The agreement was signed in the presence of Rajesh Kumar Bhagat IOCL MGR (CS) Pune, Zuben Garg SDCSM, Pune, Dipak Kumar Basu DGM (CS), KTCL Chairman Carlos Almeida, MD Derick Neto Pereira, DGM SR Ghate and other KTCL officials.
Addressing the media, Zuben said this is for the first time in India and in Goa that IOCL would be carrying out automation of fuel pumps.
“It will ensure fuelling of authorised vehicles and curb pilferage of fuel,” he said.
Basu said IOCL will provide Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and readers on all KTCL buses and dispensing units which will ensure fuelling of authorised vehicles only. Basu added that Long Term Agreement (LTA) signed by IOCL is for the first time in the country and that too in Goa with KTCL.
Basu added that IOCL supplies fuel for Indian Railways and armed forces, besides supplying fuel to other private fuel pumps across the country.
“Automation will help in automated vehicle identification as well as monitoring various reports online like kilometre per litre, stocks and consumption patterns in various routes,” said Basu.
“It will also help in comprehensive depot fuel management-inventories, tank levels deliveries and will curb misuse and fuel loss,” added Basu. “It will also save in administrative cost real time utilisation of fleet’s fuel utilisation and will issue alerts on irregular behaviour and abnormal fuel consumption,” said Basu.
Complimenting IOCL for introducing the facility for the first time and that too for KTCL, Almeida urged the officials to provide 15 days credit facility and curb fuel pilferage on the long route buses. Basu agreed to take it up with the management and provide assistance.
Almeida further urged the IOCL officials to adopt some wards of Mormugao Municipal Council under Swachh Bharat and Nitol Goey campaign. “For the first time, KTCL made profit after 29 years and now for the first time in the country the KTCL depot fuel pumps will be automated,” said Almeida.
Pereira said IOCL has extended that facility free of cost and automation will help in curbing fuel pilferage and cut down operational cost.
